Artists Statement/CV

A student of philosophy at Dalhousie University, Canada, Alex Jowett approaches art from a philosophical point of view; exploring art as a cultural reflection of society from early man to the present. What is art’s place in society? How can it affect the viewer, artist and subject and what is its’ significance to the past, present and future of humanity? Using photography, painting and drawing Alex explores such broad themes as; sexuality, freedom, religion and people’s perceptions of themselves and others, in hopes that art can ultimately aid in an increased understanding of oneself and others.
